Our Core Services

Childcare & Early Development

Our childcare professionals support learning, play, nutrition and behaviour guidance for babies, toddlers and school-age children. We design enriched development plans, liaise with schools and therapists, and deliver consistent routines that help children thrive.

Adult Personal Care

We provide help with daily living activities, medication prompts, personal care, mobility assistance and dignity-led support for adults. We train carers to respect autonomy while offering necessary physical and emotional support.

Mental Health & Emotional Support

Emotional wellbeing is core to our approach. We employ trauma-informed methods and compassionate companions to support people experiencing anxiety, depression or life transitions — always working closely with families and clinicians.

Special Needs & Complex Care

Our team has experience supporting people with autism spectrum conditions, cerebral palsy, learning disabilities and other complex needs. We co-create care and therapy-friendly plans that prioritise comfort, communication and safety.

Respite & Short-Term Placements

Carers need rest. We provide short-term respite services for families and primary carers — offering high-quality cover that allows families to recharge with confidence that loved ones are in safe hands.

Community & Family Support

We connect families to community resources, advocate for needs in school or care settings, and offer training workshops for parents and carers to build lasting skills.

Our Story & Values

"Care is more than a service — it is a promise to treat each person with dignity, curiosity and warmth."

DefCare Agency began with a small but determined group of carers who wanted to raise standards of person-centred support in our community. Over the years we have grown while keeping our values intact: respect for individuality, transparent communication, continuous learning and strong partnerships with families and professionals. We believe great care supports autonomy and enriches everyday life — whether that means helping a child learn to ride a bicycle or supporting an adult to live more independently at home.

How we work

Every new client starts with a compassionate assessment carried out by a senior clinician and care coordinator. We listen closely to needs, routines and preferences, then create a clear care plan with measurable goals and regular reviews. Our carers receive ongoing training — in safeguarding, first aid, medication management and specialist approaches relevant to each person's needs. Regular supervision, incident reporting and family feedback help us continuously improve.

We place great emphasis on matching: personality, culture, language and the practical skills needed for each placement. This reduces disruption and builds long-term relationships.

Safety, quality & regulation

Safety underpins everything we do. We conduct enhanced background checks, maintain full insurance, and follow national guidance on safeguarding. Our quality framework includes regular audits, external peer reviews and a commitment to learning from feedback. Families receive clear reporting and can escalate concerns directly to the senior leadership team, including our CEO, Adetoye Olusola. We aim to be transparent and accountable in all aspects of our work.

Comprehensive care explained — everything you need to know

Choosing a care provider can feel overwhelming. To help, we set out here the practical steps we take, the types of support available, and the outcomes you can expect when partnering with DefCare Agency. Our goal is to give families and individuals the confidence to make informed decisions.

Assessment & individualised planning

We begin with a thorough assessment — listening to the views of the person needing support, and of family members, carers and professionals. This assessment covers daily routines, medical needs, mobility, communication, mental health and social goals. From here we co-produce a personalised plan that sets realistic objectives, identifies risks, and clarifies the responsibilities of everyone involved. The plan is written in plain language and reviewed regularly so that it remains responsive to changing needs.

Care delivery & staff standards

Our carers are recruited for compassion and competence. Every applicant goes through a multi-stage recruitment process, including formal references, enhanced checks and interviews focused on values and practical skills. Once in post, carers undertake mandatory induction training and regular refreshers. We monitor quality through direct observation, feedback surveys and regular supervision sessions. If a carer is ever not achieving the standards we expect, we act swiftly to support improvement or make a replacement.

Working with families and professionals

Good care is collaborative. We work closely with doctors, therapists, schools and local community organisations to ensure continuity of support. Families receive regular updates and can access our care coordinators for advice. We also offer family-training sessions and practical workshops so that families can build skills that enhance quality of life at home.

Flexibility & continuity

Life changes, and our services are designed to be flexible. Packages can expand or reduce, and we provide cover for holidays, short-term respite and emergency needs. If a person’s needs change significantly we re-assess and update the care plan with them and their family. Continuity is important to us — whenever possible we keep the same carers to build trust and stable relationships.

Outcomes & measuring success

We define success together. For children this might mean improved communication, increased independence with self-care tasks, or better engagement at school. For adults it might mean improved mobility, safer medication practices, or reduced isolation. We use simple, measurable goals and track progress through regular reviews so that families can see tangible results.

Pricing & commissioning

We are transparent about pricing and offer a range of packages. Our team will provide a clear breakdown of costs and options during the assessment stage. We support families exploring funding options and liaise with commissioners or local authorities where appropriate. Our focus is on delivering excellent value through reliable, trained staff and efficient coordination.

How to start

Start by contacting us for an initial conversation. We will arrange an assessment visit at a convenient time. From there we provide a written care plan and a proposal outlining cost and proposed carers. Many families find that the clarity of our process reduces anxiety and speeds up the transition to safe, effective care.
